On January 20th, Northwest Pacific Region Environmental Cooperation Symposium was held in Toyama International Conference Center, and our second year students of NOWPAP group in the Course for Inquiry on Natural Sciences presented on their work. This symposium was sponsored by Toyama prefecture and the Northwest Pacific Region Environmental Cooperation Center (NPEC) and held as the 20th anniversary event with the theme “Considering the preservation of the marine environment of the Sea of Japan from Toyama.”
After a greeting from the Governor of Toyama, the keynote speech titled “Stop the contamination by plastic debris” was given. Then three students from our NOWPAP group presented about marine garbage and ocean acidification and urged cooperation in environmental preservation. Also, Namerikawa High School’s report on their activities together with NPEC’s report on their activities and research outcomes all made the audience understand environmental preservation efforts more deeply.
