School History

1898

Toyama Prefectural Takaoka Jinjo Middle School is established.

1899

School name is changed to Toyama Prefectural Daini Middle School

1901

School name is changed to Toyama Prefectural Takaoka Middle School. A new school building is completed in Imizu-gun Shimozeki-mura Ohaza Nakagawa-mura.

1937

Construction of new school building is completed.

1948

School name is changed to Toyama Prefectural Takaoka High School. Later on, the school name is changed to Toyama Prefectural Takaoka Chubu High School due to the consolidation of Takaoka High School, Takaoka Kogei High School, and a part of Takaoka Tobu Girls’ High School.

1950

Technical course is separated. Full-time General course, Homemaking course, and part-time General course are established.

1952

Homemaking course is closed.

1953

School name is changed to Toyama Prefectural Takaoka High School.

1958

Library is constructed for commemorating the 60th anniversary of the school.

1963

Expansion work of the playground is completed.

1965

Gymnasium is constructed.

1968

Part-time General course is closed. A full-time Science and Mathematics course is established.

1979

Takaoka High School Educational Promotion and Scholarship Association is founded and incorporated.

1988

New school building is constructed at the place where the Engineering Department of Toyama University used to be located. “Keisetsu-kan” is constructed for commemorating the 90th anniversary of the school. Commemoration ceremony is held.

1994

Monument is constructed at the place where the original school building used to be located.

1998

“Ohsho-kan” is constructed for commemorating the 100th anniversary of the school. Commemoration ceremony is held.

2003

Takaoka High School is designated as Super Science High School by MEXT.

2008

Commemoration ceremony for celebrating the 110th anniversary of the school is held.

2011

Science and Mathematics course is closed.
Course for Inquiry on the Humanities and Social Sciences and Course for Inquiry on Natural Sciences are newly established.
